Purple Gold™ is a unique gold alloy composed of 80% pure gold and 20% of other metal components. Although Purple Gold™ has been around for many decades, it was however both porous and brittle — not malleable for jewellery making. Its colour tended to be uneven and its appearance blotchy as it reacted too readily with other elements.
The breakthrough was in finding a way to produce Purple Gold™ that is strong yet soft enough to withstand shaping into jewellery pieces, at the same time being less reactive to contaminations.
Purple Gold™ was invented by metallurgist Professor Loh after years of thorough research and development. However, Professor Loh was unable to produce Purple Gold™ that was malleable enough for shaping into jewellery. Thus, he approached Aspial Corporation Limited, for technological expertise in jewellery-making to collaborate in an effort to perfect this delicate process.
After extensive research, Aspial Corporation made the breakthrough in producing this rare and unique amalgam which is soft enough for shaping yet less reactive to contaminants. The world's first Purple Gold™ made its debut in the year 2000 and was patented (Patent No. 82596) in the year 2002. The patent rights for the exquisite 19K solid Purple Gold™ is owned by Aspial Corporation.
From its humble beginnings as a simple nugget to the spectacular jewellery creations that have transformed the jewellery industry; Aspial Corporation has successfully marketed Purple Gold™ as a must-have accessory for the cosmopolitan woman of today.
